A first visit at Pearl32 Dentistry and Wellness takes about ninety minutes. You will get digital x-rays, an examination of every tooth and the gums, a cleaning where the chart supports one, and a written, itemized plan. Nothing is done that you have not agreed to. What to bring to a first visit

Bring a photo ID and your insurance card if you have one.

Bring a list of the medications and supplements you take, with doses if you know them.

If you have had x-rays at another office, bring them, or ask that office to send the digital files to us before your visit. Recent x-rays can save you from repeating them.

If another office has given you a treatment plan and you want it reviewed, bring the written plan. A copy with procedure codes lets us compare it line by line.

What happens at the first visit

Plan on about ninety minutes.

We start with your medical history and any concerns you have.

We take digital x-rays. The dentist examines every tooth and measures the gums with a probe.

If the chart supports a routine cleaning, the cleaning is done at the same visit. If the gums need more than a routine cleaning, we explain scaling and root planing first and schedule it separately.

The dentist then goes through the images with you on the screen and answers your questions. You leave with a written, itemized plan.

What a first visit will not do

No treatment starts without a written plan you have seen. There is no pressure to decide in the chair. You can take the plan home and call when you are ready.

Which dentist you will see

You will see one of our three general dentists: Dr. Nojan Jahedmanesh, Dr. Masih Rezaei or Dr. Maneli Ardeshirzadeh. All three hold a DDS from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry.

The dentist who examines you follows your case through. You will not be passed between dentists from visit to visit.

Dr. Jahedmanesh also holds a certificate in prosthodontics from UCLA and practices as a general dentist. Dr. Rezaei is an Assistant Professor at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. Dr. Ardeshirzadeh, like the other two, holds a DDS from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry.

For complex cases, visiting specialists (a periodontist, an endodontist, an oral surgeon or a pediatric dentist) come to the office. Your own dentist still coordinates the plan.

Paying for care

We are in network with most major PPO plans and Delta Dental HMO. Bring your card and we check your benefits before treatment, so you get an estimate of your share in writing before anything starts.

Cost is quoted in writing, itemized, after an examination.

If you do not have insurance, our membership plan covers preventive visits for a set annual fee. It is a membership plan, not insurance.

Third party financing is available and the practice is not the creditor, through CareCredit, Cherry, Sunbit and Happen Bank (formerly LendingClub). Details are on our financing page.

Getting here

Pearl32 Dentistry and Wellness is at 24022 Calle De La Plata, Suite 450, Laguna Hills, CA 92653. Suite 450 is reached by elevator. The office is wheelchair accessible.

Parking: there is free street parking and there are free spaces behind the building. The parking structure charges.

If it has been years since you saw a dentist

You will not get a lecture. People wait years for many reasons.

We start the same way as with any new patient: a chart and x-rays, then a conversation about what we see and what matters to you. The plan is written and itemized, and you decide the order and the pace.

If anxiety kept you away, sedation is an option. We offer nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and IV sedation administered and monitored by a provider who holds the California permit for it. Read more on our sedation page.

Same-day emergency slots are held Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Call (949) 830-0074 and tell us what you feel and where. An emergency visit focuses on the tooth that hurts: x-rays of that area, a diagnosis, and treatment of the cause where you agree to it. A full new patient examination can follow at a later visit. Do I need x-rays if I had some recently?

Often not. Bitewing x-rays taken within the last 12 months are usually adequate for a first visit. Ask your previous office to send us the digital files before your appointment, and we read those instead of taking new ones. If the images are too old, too blurry or do not show the area in question, we take digital x-rays here.
